Thirty-one young researchers from four countries took part in the latest edition of the grant proposal writing workshop. The event was organized by the Foundation for Polish Science and DAAD Poland.

Writing successful grant proposals is a key element in building an academic career. Polish and international funding programs differ in terms of rules, evaluation criteria, and application procedures. However, there is one common denominator: preparing a strong research proposal requires universal skills that go far beyond developing a scientific idea itself.

During the interactive workshop “Grant Proposal Writing Online – the Basics”, PhD students were introduced to the most important foundations of grant proposal preparation.

The meeting took place on October 8 at the headquarters of the Foundation for Polish Science in Warsaw. It brought together 31 young doctoral candidates from 4 countries, including 6 cities in Poland.

Participants received a condensed package of knowledge about funding programs and evaluation processes. They also had the chance to practice structuring a proposal and presenting the significance of their own research projects.

The workshop leader, Dr. Sabina Preusse, emphasized the importance of clearly understanding one’s research objectives, as this translates into a stronger and more effective project argumentation. Equally important are the ability to highlight the scientific and social value of the research, as well as to point out possible practical applications of the conducted studies.
