We are seeking an experienced expert to support participants of the PRIME Project in analysing their competitive environment and defining how their technologies can successfully stand out in the market.The role focuses on helping research teams move from technical differentiation to strategic market positioning, clear value propositions, and compelling commercial and investor-facing narratives.
This is an expert and advisory role and does not involve project management.

Scope of Responsibilities:

1. Training Design and Delivery

  • Design and deliver advanced, interactive training sessions on competitive landscape analysis, technology differentiation, and strategic market positioning.
  • Develop training content that supports teams in moving beyond academic awareness of competitors towards market- and customer-oriented positioning.

2. Expert and Advisory Support

  • Provide expert support to participants in:
    •  identifying and structuring relevant competitive analysis tools and approaches,
    •  identifying, categorising, and assessing competitors, alternatives, and substitute solutions,
    • analysing market dynamics, value chains, and emerging technology and industry trends,
    •  developing distinctive value propositions and positioning statements,
    •  building competitor landscape maps and initial commercial strategy outlines.
  • Provide expert consultations supporting teams in translating analytical insights into actionable positioning and commercial strategy decisions throughout their PRIME journey.
  • Review and provide structured feedback on competitor analyses, positioning statements, and related strategic outputs.
  • Identify gaps and blind spots in teams’ competitive understanding and support the development of strategies to address them.

3. Programme Development

  • Contribute to the evaluation of training effectiveness based on participant feedback and demonstrated application of concepts.
  • Support the continuous improvement of training materials in response to evolving market landscapes and programme experience.
  • Document best practices, tools, and case studies for the PRIME Project knowledge base.
  • Collaborate with other trainers, mentors, and the FNP team to ensure coherence across the programme portfolio.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in competitive strategy, competitive intelligence, market analysis, business development, or related strategic roles, including work with technology-driven or innovation-based projects.
  • Proven experience in conducting competitive analyses and developing market positioning or commercial strategies.
  • Familiarity with competitive intelligence tools, market research databases, and analytical frameworks.
  • Proven experience in training, coaching, or advising teams in competitive analysis, market research, or strategic decision-making.
  • Understanding of competitive dynamics in early-stage innovation contexts, including emerging technologies and adjacent markets.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex competitive insights into clear, actionable strategic guidance.
  • Very good command of English (minimum C1 level).

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in strategy consulting, venture capital, corporate strategy, or startup acceleration programmes.
  • Knowledge of technology commercialization processes and early-stage market positioning.
  • Experience working with intellectual property landscapes, including patent-based competitive analysis.
  • Educational background in business, economics, science, engineering, or innovation management
